Plums

photo_plumsAs a little one, when I told my Grandma Mae I had a stomach ache, she would force prune juice on me. There seemed to be a large brown bottle in her refrigerator at all times…an everlasting supply. I can testify, stewed plums or prunes do wonders for constipation. Grandma knew best.

Today I ate two plums for dinner because it’s much too hot to cook. These lovely yellow plums were picked fresh on Sunday by the folks at Migliorelli Farm in Rhinebeck, NY. Plums are high in Potassium and Vitamin C which helps the body absorb iron improving blood circulation. A delicious summertime treat, plums are also excellent for treating dehydration or cirrhosis of the liver. Hopefully, your liver is healthy and treating you right!
