Serves 4 growing grandparents-to-be

If asked what food we need a lot more of, I would say GREENS!!! We should be eating them every single day. Packed with mega-loads of Vitamin K, A, and Vitamin C, greens & non-starchy veggies such as mushrooms and green beans combine well with lemons, limes, and tomatoes. Collard greens are also super low in calories and contain NO cholesterol. The leaves and stems

Recipe by KalaLea K

Serves 2 Sleepyheads

Fresh berries are miracle workers. I could write for days, okay, maybe hours, about the many ways berries can prevent a slew of ailments such as dementia, poor vision, skin rashes, and arthritis. This Summer, be extra good to your body by eating a pint or two every week. Try blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and my new favorite golden berries. And if you have issue with the seeds

Recipe by KalaLea K

Serves 4-6 quirky keen-wa Kings or Queens

Quinoa (keen-wa) also known as “the mother grain” by the Incas, is generally known to strengthen the entire body. It has more calcium than milk and is superb for new vegetarians who desire nutrient-dense foods. Also a great source of iron, phosophorous, B vitamins, and vitamin E. Prepare it for breakfast with almond milk, cinnamon & raisins or as a yummy side dish as below:

WDIET : Wow! Menu Recipes

by KalaLea on June 10, 2011 • Posted in Recipes

With the excitement of my first WDIET : Wow! workshop, I failed to take photos of the food before the participants devoured these yummy, vegan treats but we managed to take one shot before packing up. Seeing that it was teetering on ninety degrees HOT, it was important for me to prepare light yet filling dishes. I only used the stove once to cook the pasta; I put my blender to good use though! Check out

Serves 4 gracious guacamole eaters

Avocado has become one of my favorite fruits over the past three years. It can be eaten any time of the day including for breakfast. Eighty percent of its caloric content is an easily digested fat, in the form of mono-unsaturated fat which is great! It’s also rich in copper which aids in red blood cell formation. Avocados are the best fruit source of vitamin E, an

buckwheat grits

by KalaLea on May 27, 2011 • Posted in Recipes

Buckwheat is protein and Vitamin B rich, effective for treating diarrhea, it cleans and strengthens the intestines, reduces cholesterol and blood pressure, strengthens the capillaries and blood vessels, plus is great in treating poor circulation. Rutin, a bioflavonoid found in buckwheat is the healing culprit. Rutin is also an antidote against x-rays and other forms of radiation.

NOTE: Buckwheat is not actually a cereal grain but a fruit seed related to rhubarb and sorrel.

  • During my farm stay in Bahia, Brazil years ago, I read the 1977 book, How to Save Your Own Life by Erica Jong. The other day I came across the notes I copied from the book: 1) Renounce useless guilt 2) Don't make a cult of suffering 3) Live in the NOW (or at least the soon) 4) Always do the thing you fear the most; courage is an acquired taste like caviar 5) Trust ALL joy 6) If the evil eye fixes you in its gaze; look elsewhere 7) Get ready to be 87 years old. So splendid. Happy Free Friday!! #selflove #sunshine #books #1977 #ericajong #ridingthewave #onlyyoucansaveyourownlife
