hugs = money

Two weeks ago, I was inspired by the story of two Canadian roommates who decided NOT to spend money for one year. Together they saved more than 55,000 US dollars. This intrigued me because I believe that in New York City, one cannot walk out the door without dropping $20 every other block, let alone save money.

As more businesses and entrepreneurs accept debit cards, I’m finding it extra challenging to keep track of my spending

a stomach made of stone

Hello Beautiful Ones,

My recent interview with Brian, the passionate vegan, spurred some interests in the lifestyle. A good thing. However, a few people have made comments offline about their inability to stop eating meat and other non-vegan food items such as cheese and ice cream. After being a vegan for seven years, I totally get it. My belief is that not every one should lead a vegan lifestyle. Although, I can’t ignore the fact that

Brian, the passionate vegan

It was Easter Sunday. Not the ideal day for food shopping but I had just returned from an out of town excursion and had a hankering for some fruit and cereal. Seeing that I’m a petite woman, the Whole Foods employee yelled out, “let me know if you want me to grab something for you.” Two minutes had barely passed before I solicited his help and we began to discuss organic labeling and GMO crops.

bed stuy fresh and local (interview)

Food shopping in other neighborhoods can be frustrating, plus it takes a great deal of planning and time management; leaving little room for spontaneity. I feel compassion for those who live in food deserts and lack access to fresh and healthy food. Here’s an example of how two people changed their food game by sourcing fresh and local groceries for themselves and their surrounding community.

One afternoon while preparing lunch, I realized we were out of

Advice I should have adhered to last Sunday evening. I’m not going to mention names or places but I’m super sure that I got food poisoning from a mushroom, green bean dish that made my scalp tingle and my taste buds run for cover. • I used to have fish ๐ŸŸ and I love snorkeling. One of my next goals is to get a scuba diving license or certificate. The aquarium at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront was worth the visit. And I loved seeing the school children on tours react to the info shared about each beautiful creature. Learned so much! #southafrica #capetown #fish #aquarium #nemo #snorkeling #scubadiving

  • My tastebuds were seduced last night at an African restaurant along the Cape Town waterfront called Gold. After a 14 course meal, my belly cried, PLEASE NO MORE! From the first course, Zanzibar soup to the final dessert, Moroccan orange and walnut served with sweet orange and ground spice sauce, every dish was delish. The photos don't do the experience justice. Give thanks! #africa #southafrica #capetown #goldrestaurant #touristy #
