giving thanks to food workers

Remember the school field trips to your nearby farm? Live demonstrations of farmers milking cows. Not sure if these outings are hosted by public schools anymore but many moons ago, when I was a little wee lady, a few students in my elementary class were selected to milk a cow. I can’t recall if I volunteered or not but I didn’t have the opportunity to milk then, and still don’t know how. Fast forward to adulthood.

Food Rules by Michael Pollan

Last winter, when I read about the release of Food Rules, the new book by Michael Pollan, I cried for twenty whole minutes. Why KalaLea? you ask. Picture this, a well known, food author and profound journalist writes a book similar to the Why Did I Eat That? mini-novel I had been creating for well over a year. Eating Animals

When you are ready to learn more about the meat you eat,  read the letter on pg. 110 of Eating Animals from Frank Reese, a poultry farmer and then buy this book. Next to the book, Slaughterhouse, it is one of the most comprehensive looks into the meat industry in the United States. Eating Animals is the third book by Mr. Jonathan Safran Foer.
